Spaceship — A domain odyssey

Spaceship.com—from 0→1, and beyond

Spaceship is a Namecheap spin-off built to reimagine what the domain and online presence industry could be. New vision, new technology, and with design at the center. See here some of my best contributions to make it a reality.

The homepage is where Spaceship meets its users for the first time. The domain search and transfer engine sits at its heart—designed as a shared, flexible component that adapts across the entire platform.

This was also the project where I stepped into a cross-functional leadership role: planning and running a redesign across four teams, bringing in research, critique sessions, and a structured design process. Eleven people, two and a half months, one story.

Two intentions, one input

How redesigning one component quadrupled Spaceship's domain transfer success rate.

Manager Applications

Manager applications are where the platform lives—domains, hosting, subscriptions, connections. Each one serves a different function, but they all share the same design language and structural patterns.

We built a system around this: guidelines, documentation, and integration rules that teams across the company could follow to ship consistent products without losing speed. Getting that right—and earning the trust to make it stick—was some of the most rewarding work I did at Spaceship.

Unbox™ is where Spaceship goes from “I bought a domain” to “I have a working site.” It’s the post-purchase flow that guides users through connecting and configuring everything — hosting, email, SSL, CMS — into one setup. The design challenge was real: dozens of product combinations, each with its own logic, all needing to feel like one path. We mapped 12+ scenarios and designed a system that absorbs the complexity underneath. Choose, connect, configure, create.

We started as a small team—sketching ideas, going through concepts, building prototypes that no one outside the room would ever see. Four years of work before a single user touched the product. It was an intense, energetic endeavour, but we knew we were building something special. Every detail mattered because there was no legacy to fall back on—just the blank page and the conviction that this industry deserved better.

More than 7 million domains under management. A 4.4★ on Trustpilot across 4,000+ reviews. The interface and ease of use are what get mentioned most. That’s the part that stays with me—the craft landed, and people felt it.
